Vika Nakacia, a promising player for the Fijiana 7s team, is expressing her gratitude for a successful debut during her participation in the SVNS Dubai and Cape Town 7s tournaments. At 26 years old and hailing from Yasawa, Nakacia is proud of the many milestones she achieved on this tour.
Reflecting on her performance, Nakacia acknowledged the invaluable support from her coaches and reiterated that despite the results, her initial experience was very positive. “It was a good first leg for me despite the results,” she remarked.
She described the exhilaration of playing in front of large crowds as both daunting and thrilling. “The lights and playing for the first time in front of a big stadium was something scary and exciting,” Nakacia added. The symbolic significance of wearing the white jersey played a pivotal role in boosting her confidence during the matches. “The white jersey reminded me why I was there,” she said.
Nakacia noted that the pace of the game surprised her. She is focused on adapting quickly to this faster style of play and emphasized the importance of staying alert and proactive on such a prominent stage. “The game is really fast on the big stage, there is no time to waste and no time to be slow,” she pointed out.
As she prepares for upcoming tournaments, Nakacia is determined to continue improving her skills and hopes to secure her selection for the next leg of competitions. In her debut across two tournaments in the SVSNS World Series, she has already made a significant impact by scoring five tries in nine matches.
