Lasaro Driubalavu, head boy of Saint Thomas High School, has demonstrated remarkable academic achievement and strong leadership abilities. The reserved yet confident student was honored with the prestigious baton of honor during the school’s cadet passing-out parade held on July 26.
Cadet training is incorporated into the curriculum at some schools to enhance students’ personal growth and discipline. In addition to fostering academic success, the cadet program is designed to cultivate teamwork, leadership qualities, and a sense of responsibility among students.
At 18 years old and hailing from Nuku Village in Serua, Lasaro also has family connections to Wainiyabia, Serua. Reflecting on his experience, he shared, “It was my first experience, and I was nervous, but I had faith in God, which helped me overcome the challenge.”
As the eldest of four siblings, Lasaro has aspirations of becoming an electrician and plans to pursue his studies at Fiji National University (FNU).
