Viola Ravutubananitu, a year eight student at Tagitagi Sangam Primary School in Tavua, has distinguished herself as the highest achiever in the Fiji Eighth Year Examination. The 13-year-old scored an impressive 491 out of a possible 500 marks, attributing her success to her family’s unwavering support and her faith in God.

Hailing from Totoya, Lau, and connected to Tavualevu, Tavua through her maternal heritage, Viola expressed deep gratitude for the encouragement received from her family throughout her academic journey. “First and foremost, I thank the Almighty,” she stated, highlighting her joy and pride in the fruits of her hard work. “I dedicated myself to preparing from the beginning of the year, often studying late into the night and waking early to revise.”

Viola has dedicated her achievement to her late grandfather, Aisake Ravutubananitu, as well as her grandmother and parents. “When my grandpa passed away, I felt like I lost a part of me because he always supported me,” she remarked. “But I thank the Heavenly Father for never leaving my side and assisting me in overcoming my challenges.”

She also acknowledged her grandmother, Ro Vani Ravutubananitu, for her steadfast support, along with her class teacher, Nazeel Ali, and the head teacher and staff of the school.

As the daughter of a corrections officer and a homemaker, Viola is aspiring to enroll at Adi Cakobau School (ACS) next year. “I am interested in attending ACS because it breeds strong and independent women,” she mentioned, demonstrating her ambitions for her future.

Viola’s determination and resilience have not only brought her personal success but also made her a point of pride for her school and family. Her story is an inspiring reminder of the impact of hard work, family support, and faith in achieving one’s goals.

This achievement reflects the potential of young students in Fiji and serves as an encouragement for many others to strive for academic excellence, making a positive mark in their communities and beyond.
