Javish Lal, a promising sprinter from Labasa and an eighth-grade student at Tabia Primary School, demonstrated his athletic prowess at the recent Labasa Primary Schools Athletics competition, securing a medal in the under-14 category. Competing before a large audience at Subrail Park, Lal expressed satisfaction with his performance while emphasizing his continuous quest for improvement. This marked another victory for the young athlete, who had previously won gold in the U13 grade during the primary school athletics national meet in Lautoka.

Lal’s talent has attracted attention from schools in Suva; however, he is cautious about his next steps. He has made it clear that any offers he considers must include both full scholarships and accommodation, as his family’s financial situation poses challenges for him to relocate. “I come from a poor family, and it would be hard to live in Suva without proper support,” he stated. His father, Gitendra Lal, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the importance of comprehensive support should an opportunity arise.

The hopeful young athlete, with the unwavering support of his family and coaches, remains open to possibilities that can elevate his sports career while ensuring his educational needs are met. As Lal continues to make strides in athletics, the support for his journey could pave the way for brighter opportunities in the future.

Overall, this story reflects the importance of nurturing young talent and provides a hopeful outlook for Javish and his aspirations. With the right support, he has the potential to achieve great success both in sports and academics.
