Nineteen-year-old Jordan Miller, who traveled to Fiji with the Australian schoolboys in 2022, has recently returned to the island nation as a member of the Vodafone Fiji Bati team. This marks a significant milestone in his rugby league career.
Miller, a tall prop player born and raised in Australia, has roots in Savusavu through his father. He expressed his excitement about training alongside experienced Bati players and NRL stars he admired while growing up, such as Tui Kamikamica, Maika Sivo, and Viliame Kikau.
He thanked coach Waisake Kativerata for the chance to debut with the Bati, starting the match from the bench. “I’ve always wanted to play for Fiji,” Miller stated. “At just 19, it still feels surreal to be training with these big names. I didn’t expect this opportunity to arise so soon, and I’m truly grateful.”
Miller emphasized the valuable lessons he’s learned from the team’s culture during their time together, remarking, “Everything’s good. We have devotion twice a day, and there’s a lot of energy, making it a very enjoyable camp.”
This year, Miller signed a three-year contract with the Tigers and made his NRL debut in Round 15 against the Titans, contributing to a winning score of 18-10. He was also recognized as the player’s player and awarded best and fairest at the Wests Magpies Harold Matthews Cup U17s during their Junior Representative Award night in September 2022.
