Rising Prices and Poverty: Leader’s Bold Claims

Unity Fiji Party leader Savenaca Narube alleges that the increase in parliamentarian salaries could negatively impact the economy, leading to higher prices and escalating poverty.

He criticized the government’s leadership, saying, “All this could have been avoided by a government that respects principles of fairness, selflessness, and respect.”

Narube pointed out the irony of the leadership being labeled as charismatic, stating, “The same leadership has manipulated laws and processes to pay themselves more, while the rest of the country struggles with poverty, unemployment, a cost-of-living crisis, and rising social injustice.”

He reminded citizens that the ruling party had promised not to raise their salaries and emphasized that charisma is not what the country needs right now.

“The country needs leadership that prioritizes the people’s interests over their own,” Narube stated. “We need leaders who uphold fairness, moral integrity, and selflessness, and keep their promises. We need leaders we can trust. Charisma is far down the list of attributes required for Fiji at this moment.”
