The Vietnam Kava Dealers have launched a business aimed at supporting local communities through the sale of kava. This initiative is spearheaded by Selemo Banicau, a 29-year-old from Vusasivo, Natewa, Cakaudrove, who notes that their business has only been operational for a few months but is already making good progress.

The primary goal of this venture is to assist community members who face financial challenges, especially in urgent circumstances. The company, which is specifically named Vietnam Kava Dealers, operates primarily from nearby towns. They focus on purchasing kava from several villages in the area, including Dawa, Vusasivo, Nadavaci, and Naqaravatu.

Currently, the price of kava fluctuates between $10 to $11 per kilogram, depending on its quality and market demand. Selemo mentions their commitment to ensuring that the kava is consistently available for the community, despite some challenges they face in accessing the product due to unfavorable weather conditions.

Over the past week, they expect to generate sales between $5,000 to $6,000 from kava sales in the Savusavu market. Beyond immediate business operations, they are also focusing on long-term stability, having already invested in building a home and contributing to the Fiji Holding Unit Trust.

While there are challenges, particularly with climatic conditions affecting kava supply, Selemo encourages those with similar aspirations not to be afraid of pursuing viable initiatives that can be beneficial for their livelihoods.

In summary, the Vietnam Kava Dealers are making significant strides in supporting the local economy while providing essential products to their community. Their success thus far reflects an entrepreneurial spirit that not only seeks profit but aims to uplift collective welfare in the region. This positivity and community focus could inspire others to pursue similar ventures, ultimately leading to greater economic resilience and stability.
