Rowena Acraman has shown remarkable resilience following the loss of her grandmother earlier this year. The former radio journalist, who is passionate about human rights and climate change, is now one of nine contestants in the Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024.

Sponsored by Miss APCO Coatings, Ms. Acraman reflected on the challenges she faced during her three years of study, crediting her friends for their support in helping her overcome various obstacles. “Pursuing both journalism and psychology was no easy feat for me personally,” she remarked. She added that the difficulties she faced at home tested her strength and determination. “Hard work and sleepless nights have truly paid off.”

Participating in the festival this week has been a transformative experience for her, as she vies for the crown. With a blend of emotions, she describes the journey as nothing short of magical.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Ms. Acraman is also a talented artist, singer, and musician, proficient in playing the guitar and ukulele. Her goal is to work for a non-governmental organization that focuses on human rights and environmental issues. Although balancing work and studies proved to be tough, she managed to secure a stable income while earning her degree.
