Ana Seru, a Year Nine student, has made a significant achievement by being recognized as the top female cadet during the passing-out parade at John Wesley College held at Albert Park, Suva. Coming from the Raiwaqa area, which is known for its social challenges, Ana’s upbringing has shaped her determination to excel.
At just 14 years old, Ana faced the rigors of a one-week cadet training program, battling the humid weather while mastering her marching skills. She reflected on her life, acknowledging that her circumstances were less than ideal, yet emphasized the importance of striving for excellence in her education.
“I had no other choice; the only way to improve my life is through education,” she stated, highlighting her commitment to academic success.
Hailing from Naivucini, Naitasiri, Ana has learned to make wise choices, particularly when navigating peer pressure, a lesson instilled in her by her family. She believes that making sound decisions is crucial for achieving positive results.
Ana dedicated her accolade to her siblings and her father, who was present at the event. As the introverted member of her family, she hopes her accomplishment will motivate her younger siblings, instilling in them the belief that they can achieve their goals. Inspired by her success, they are eager to pursue secondary education and participate in cadet training.
