Christopher Wasasala expressed his disappointment following the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) team’s significant 6-1 defeat to the Police team in Suva yesterday. In an interview with SUNsports, he offered an apology to supporters for the loss and emphasized the need for increased backing for the RFMF football squad for future competitions.
Despite the setback, Wasasala viewed the loss as a source of motivation to enhance the team’s performance in the upcoming 2025 season. He acknowledged the team’s lack of experience and the necessity to incorporate more seasoned players in the lineup next year.
He also pointed out that poor communication on the field contributed to the defeat, but he expressed gratitude for his players’ efforts, extending congratulations to the victorious Police team. The RFMF team had dedicated three weeks to preparation for the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl football competition.
Looking forward, Wasasala stated that they are ready to move past this loss and are committed to working hard to return stronger in the future.
This situation underscores the importance of resilience in sports. The RFMF’s willingness to learn from their defeat and to seek improvement sets a positive tone for their future endeavors. Engaging supporters more effectively could also build a stronger foundation for their success going forward.
