Today marks the final day of the Ratu Sukuna Bowl, where the RFMF Army Wives successfully defended their netball championship title by narrowly defeating the Police Wives with a score of 25 to 22 at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva. The day also saw Army Servers 2 clinching victory against Police Servers 2, scoring 44 to 29.
Seini Naigatogato, the coach for the Army Wives, expressed her gratitude to the senior wives for their support in training the team to retain their title this year. She emphasized the importance of experience, stating that veteran players contributed significantly to the team’s preparation, with aspirations for new talent to join in the upcoming year.
Team captain of Army Servers 2, Venina Naigatogato, celebrated her team’s collaborative effort, especially after facing a challenging competition last year where the Police Servers lifted the trophy. She shared her pride in the team’s performance, which was bolstered by their focus on fitness and teamwork.
An emotional highlight of the day was when Naigatogato dedicated the victory to all Army Servers worldwide, particularly to their late comrade, Private Lawanigusu, who had recently passed away from cancer. She honored her memory by stressing that the win is a tribute to all service members and their families.
