The Ratu Sukuna Bowl, a notable annual sporting event, continues to showcase competitive spirit and skills, as evidenced by the women’s netball matches held on its third day. The RFMF Army Wives team triumphantly defended their title against the Police Wives, securing a narrow victory with a score of 25 to 22 at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva.
In addition, Army Servers 2 achieved a convincing win over Police Servers 2, finishing the match with a score of 44 to 29. The team coach, Seini Naigatogato, expressed gratitude towards the senior players for their guidance, which played a significant role in preparing the squad for this year’s competition.
Reflecting on the successful defense of their title, Army Servers 2’s captain, Venina Naigatogato, commended her team for their excellent teamwork and dedication. She acknowledged that last year’s match was a tough loss against the Police Servers 2 but highlighted the considerable efforts made in preparation that led to their victory this year.
With an emotional touch, Naigatogato dedicated the win to all serving members of the Army worldwide and particularly honored the memory of their late comrade, Private Lawanigusu, who passed away last Thursday after a battle with cancer. The team aims to build upon this success by welcoming new players for future competitions.
The completion of the Ratu Sukuna Bowl Netball competition is anticipated later today, promising more excitement for all involved.
This event not only celebrates athleticism but also strengthens camaraderie amongst the participants and their families. It is heartening to witness such dedication, resilience, and unity in the face of challenges—both on and off the court. The acknowledgment of camaraderie and respect for fallen comrades further emphasizes the community spirit that sports can foster.
In summary, the RFMF’s performances in the netball matches reflect a strong sense of teamwork, preparation, and emotional dedication, marking a successful day within the Ratu Sukuna Bowl framework.
