As the third day of the Ratu Sukuna Bowl unfolds, the RFMF Army Wives have successfully defended their netball title by narrowly defeating the Police Wives with a score of 25 to 22 at the FMF Gymnasium in Suva. In another exciting match, Army Servers 2 claimed victory over Police Servers 2, finishing with a score of 44 to 29.
Coach Seini Naigatogato expressed gratitude towards the senior members of the Army Wives team for their invaluable support in preparing the squad for this year’s competition. She emphasized the importance of experienced players mentoring newcomers, with hopes to integrate more fresh talent in the upcoming year.
Captain Venina Naigatogato commended her team’s camaraderie, which proved pivotal in overcoming last year’s champions. She acknowledged the intense competition and credited their victory to thorough preparation, individual dedication, and collective teamwork.
Amidst the celebrations, emotions ran high as Naigatogato dedicated their win to all Army Servers overseas, particularly to the late Private Lawanigusu, who tragically passed away from cancer last Thursday. Although unable to attend her funeral, the team wanted to honor her memory and support her family through this heartfelt tribute.
The Ratu Sukuna Bowl Netball competition is set to conclude today, celebrating not only athletic prowess but also the bond between the players and their commitment to one another.
