The Extra Supermarket Rewa team, coached by Rodeck Singh, is set to face Mahijibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi in their second pool match of the Super Premier division today at Churchill Park in Lautoka. This follows their impressive victory over Nadroga, where they secured a 7-0 win in their opening pool game at the same venue yesterday.
John Orobulu was the standout performer, netting five goals in a remarkable display of football talent. His goals came at the 21st, 25th, 62nd, 77th minutes, and during injury time. Asivorosi Rabo and Epeli Valevou also contributed to the scoreline with goals in the 30th and 31st minutes, respectively. Orobulu’s exceptional performance set a high standard for the tournament.
Head coach Rodeck Singh expressed satisfaction with the team’s strong start. “This is one of the starts we wanted. We knew IDC is one of the big tournaments, and for us to start well is super important. I thank the boys for this start, and I think now we have set a platform for ourselves,” he stated.
Looking ahead, Singh emphasized the focus on their next task: defeating Nadi. “We take one game at a time; now we look at how we want to go about business against Nadi, and securing those three points is super important for us as well,” he added.
The match against Nadi is scheduled for 6 pm today.
