The Rewa under-16 girls football team secured a 2-0 victory over Suva in the latest round of the Digicel Fiji Girls under-16 league at the Fiji Football Academy grounds yesterday. The team’s strong performance throughout the match ensured that the capital city side remained without a win.
Rewa’s team manager, Marama Matila, expressed her delight during an interview, reflecting on the progress of the team and their recent win. “We’re happy that we came up with a good team and we beat them with tuning,” Matila stated. She expressed pride in the girls’ performance, noting that they had improved since their previous encounter, where they faced a 0-1 defeat against Suva.
Matila emphasized the importance of understanding the game and instructed the defenders not to dribble unnecessarily, highlighting the need for clearances when under pressure.
While the team does not have any immediate future plans, Matila mentioned that they will wait for further communication from the Fiji Football Association regarding upcoming events. She also acknowledged the vital support of families, parents, guardians, and well-wishers who turned out to cheer for the team during the match.
