Revolutionizing Rugby: Oceania Launches Historic Officiating Camp in Fiji

Oceania Rugby has inaugurated its inaugural Match Official High-Performance Camp in Nadi, in partnership with World Rugby and supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade through the PacificAus Sports program. This innovative initiative aims to raise officiating standards and enhance skills across the Oceania region.

Richard Sapias, President of Oceania Rugby, remarked that launching the camp in Fiji highlights their dedication to developing match officials and fostering excellence in the sport. The camp includes a range of intensive training sessions, workshops, and discussions led by experienced referees and educators from World Rugby.

It presents a valuable opportunity for match officials to refine their abilities, stay updated on the latest officiating advancements, and strengthen connections within the community. Frank Puletua, General Manager of Oceania Rugby, underscored the camp’s importance in enhancing the skills of local officials, stating, “We are taking significant steps to develop and upskill our officials, pushing towards higher standards and competencies.”
