Revolutionizing Healthcare: New CT Scanner Installed in Rural Fijian Hospital

Residents from as far as Rakiraki can now access the computed tomography (CT) scanner at Ba Aspen Hospital.

The hospital announced that the installation of the new CT scanner marks a significant advancement in healthcare for Fijians in the Western Division.

“This is the first CT scanner situated at a sub-divisional hospital, providing access to more advanced treatment and diagnostic services. It will greatly enhance clinical outcomes for patients in the region,” said Dr. Rigamoto Taito, Aspen Medical’s general manager in Fiji.

“The Ba CT scanner can effectively serve during any downtime at Lautoka Hospital, preventing unnecessary delays in diagnosis and treatment.”

The new machine employs an AI-based workflow solution, featuring a smart user interface, cutting-edge technology, and smart subscriptions to simplify, streamline, and automate the entire CT experience both inside and outside the scan room.

“The addition of this modality also aids our clinicians in developing treatment plans and monitoring disease progression, enabling quick and accurate diagnosis for patient management,” said Osea Vatulawa, superintendent medical imaging technologist.
