The Sova Ni Bula app, launched by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services in Fiji, marks a significant milestone in the management of healthcare and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country. The launch event was led by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Luisa Cikamatana, who emphasized the app’s mission to enhance the health of the Fijian population, as indicated by its name, which translates to “Basket of Life.”
During the launch, representatives from partner organizations, including Suakane Kentaro of JICA and Michael Glees of USAID, voiced their support for the initiative, underscoring the platform’s potential to assist healthcare professionals in managing NCDs more effectively, thereby reducing wait times and elevating the quality of care provided.
The app was developed with the collaboration of TaiwanICDF, USAID, JICA, along with other partners. Currently, it is being piloted in four health centers across Fiji. The Sova Ni Bula app aims to enhance healthcare efficiency, improve health outcomes, and ensure equitable access to medical services. Its user-friendly design, along with features like offline capabilities and GIS-powered health trend tracking, makes it a powerful tool for healthcare management.
This initiative not only reflects progress in healthcare technology in Fiji but also signifies a collective effort to address pressing health challenges.
