Revolutionizing Healthcare: Bold Call for New Hospital Construction

Independent Opposition Member of Parliament Ketan Lal is urging the Government to prioritize the construction of a new, state-of-the-art Colonial War Memorial (CWM) Hospital facility, citing that the current infrastructure is outdated and costly to maintain.

Lal argued that instead of continually investing in an aging structure, the Government should focus on building a new hospital capable of meeting modern healthcare demands.

“From a construction and engineering perspective, the continuous maintenance of the old CWM facility is not only financially burdensome but also inefficient,” he said.

Lal proposed a phased approach to constructing a new hospital, which he believes would be more cost-effective in the long run. This approach would also allow for the implementation of advanced medical technologies and modern design principles from the outset.

“We propose a strategic, phased construction plan, where each phase focuses on a different section of the hospital,” Lal said. “This approach will ensure that the project remains manageable and financially sustainable. By planning meticulously, we can maintain healthcare services with minimal disruption while progressing towards our goal of a new facility.”

He emphasized that this initiative should transcend political boundaries and called for collaborative efforts rather than blame games. Lal highlighted that the current government has a unique opportunity to take a visionary step by initiating the construction of a new hospital.

Lal also suggested that existing facilities could be repurposed for administrative or research purposes, ensuring that no part of the infrastructure goes to waste.

He concluded that a new CWM Hospital would not only benefit the healthcare system but also symbolize a commitment to the well-being of citizens. It would serve as a testament to the country’s capacity to innovate and adapt, ensuring future generations have access to world-class medical care.
