Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has unveiled the Tertiary Scholarships and Loans Service (TSLS) Travel and Bond Clearance Portal, alongside a new AI-integrated 24-hour Chatbot Service. During the launch, Professor Prasad emphasized the significant role that artificial intelligence can play in transforming education, governance, and policy making.

He pointed out that AI’s impact extends to personalized learning, automating administrative processes, and enhancing accessibility to education and skill development. The introduction of the TSLS Travel and Bond Clearance Portal, complemented by the Chatbot Service, signifies a substantial technological advancement for the institution.

As the responsibility for Travel and Bond Clearance shifts back to TSLS in 2024, Professor Prasad stressed the importance of having effective systems in place to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The AI-powered Chatbot Service promises real-time access to accurate information, allowing students, parents, and educational institutions to make informed decisions without the hassle of traveling long distances for information.

The government is committed to educational enhancements, with an annual allocation of $151 million dedicated to scholarships and training programs aimed at building a resilient workforce poised to meet future developmental demands. New initiatives such as the Employer-Based Skills Qualification Scheme and the Specialization Scheme are designed to offer targeted training in critical fields like Veterinary Science and specialized engineering.

The Travel and Bond Clearance Portal is projected to assist around 70,000 current and former students, with electronic processing of approvals set to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability. This integration marks a transformative shift in service delivery, promising to improve the experience for users and streamline operations within TSLS.

With these developments, there’s a hopeful outlook for students and educational institutions, as the increased efficiency and accessibility can lead to enriched learning opportunities and overall advancement in education.

In summary, the newly launched portal and chatbot service represent a significant step towards modernizing educational administrative processes, ultimately aiming to empower students and support their academic and professional journeys.
