Pacific Specialist Healthcare’s birthing facility in Nadi is celebrating a remarkable success rate, attracting attention from expectant parents. The hospital encourages them to review testimonials and patient experiences shared on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, highlighting the joy expressed by new mothers and fathers.

The facility is led by Dr. Tui Taoi, a prominent obstetrician and gynecologist in Fiji. Notably, the birthing team is composed entirely of female nurses and assistants, ensuring maximum privacy for mothers. PSH’s Director and CEO Parvish Kumar noted that this all-female staff has been warmly received by expectant mothers and well-supported by fathers.

Kumar shared, “These mothers thank us for doing this.” After childbirth, patients are accommodated in private rooms equipped with a television, a lounge suite, and beverage-making facilities, designed to resemble a five-star hotel experience. Fathers are also invited to stay with their partners, a practice actively encouraged at PSH Hospitals.

Kumar expressed satisfaction with the decision to operate the Nadi branch 24 hours a day, implemented two weeks ago, as there has been a consistent increase in patients seeking urgent medical care at night. Recently, many patients from the airport required immediate attention for various health issues, including asthma, food poisoning, fever, and sudden abdominal pain.

PSH aims to facilitate health access with an affordable consultation fee of $11.50 and is exploring ways to offer these services free of charge. The hospital has engaged with foreign companies to help achieve this goal through collaboration.

The core mission of PSH Hospitals is to enhance healthcare services and promote universal health coverage, addressing societal challenges in access to healthcare. According to Kumar, many patients have recently benefited from complimentary services. He emphasized that private hospitals aim to alleviate pressure from the public healthcare system by providing advanced and quicker treatment options, with PSH going further to make these services potentially free for those in greatest need.

“PSH Hospitals is a different breed of hospital. Come talk to us, and you will realize that empathy is in every pulse of PSH Hospitals,” he stated. Patients visiting general practitioners at the facility pay only $11.50, regardless of the time of day. Kumar highlighted that medical procedures are offered at competitive rates, with a range of options available for those who cannot pay upfront. Additionally, installment plans are available for major procedures, though patients are expected to honor financial commitments.
