The reconstruction of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) Vale ni Bose complex is progressing well. According to a statement from the iTaukei Trust Fund Board, the first phase of the project has been completed and work on the second phase is now underway.
The board announced that the practical completion of the project is anticipated by mid-2025. They emphasized that all construction activities have been meticulously planned to adhere to timelines while ensuring top-quality standards and safety measures.
The project team is dedicated to implementing Phase 2 efficiently, aiming to meet all milestones as scheduled. Coordination among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been smooth, with ongoing updates and progress assessments designed to keep the project on course.
The previous GCC complex, which suffered damage from a fire in 2020, received a $6 million insurance payout to support the reconstruction.
Phase 2 aims to improve both the functionality and design of the facility to better fulfill its intended purpose. The board is optimistic that completing this project on time will enhance the offerings of the space, adding significant value not only to the Great Council of Chiefs meetings but also to future users.
Pacific Building Solutions has been designated to lead the construction efforts.
