The Fleming Roosters Touch Rugby revival tournament will take place at St. Thomas Primary School grounds in Lautoka on September 28, with 10 spots open for men’s teams. Misa Rokovua, a committee member, confirmed in an interview that the entry fee for each team is $100. Currently, only two teams have registered, and they have yet to pay their fees.
Rokovua emphasized the importance of this tournament in revitalizing touch rugby in Lautoka and highlighted its role in engaging youth in positive activities to steer them away from drugs and crime. He extended an invitation to anyone interested, even those without a team, to join in the family fun day planned alongside the tournament.
The organizing committee is actively seeking sponsors, as most of the tournament’s funds are raising through their efforts. Rokovua acknowledged the challenges of securing team participation and funding but remains committed to making the event a success. He noted the plan to include a Police team for a heightened awareness of the drug crisis affecting the youth in the country.
