Reviving Faith: The Methodist Church’s Bold Vision for the Future

The Reverend Anil Reuben, Assistant General Secretary of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, expresses confidence that the church is undergoing a revival. As one of the longest-serving ministers, he highlighted the church’s renewed energy and involvement in decision-making led by the church president.

Reverend Reuben stated, “It is time to restore the lost image. I have been preaching in various locations and observed that many children are filling the church.” This year’s conference theme focuses on “Restoring the Lost Image of Christ within the Methodist Church in Fiji.”

He pointed out that a significant number of incarcerated individuals identify as Methodists, and emphasized the church’s commitment to improving this situation. “We are lacking in areas such as prisons and hospitals. We must ensure that we continue to reach out to these places,” he said.

Church President Reverend Semisi Turagavou recognized that the church faces challenges in its role as a prophetic voice and spiritual guide for the nation. “We should rise and move to another level. Restoring or achieving the lost image of Christ is the vision, and I suggest that we accept it collectively, as this is the church’s mission for the year 2024-2025. We need to recapture what we have lost,” he urged.

“This is our time. We must think outside the box. The time is always right to do what is right. God is forming and reforming His church, and He is calling us to partner with Him to elevate the church to another level.”
