Reverend Anil Reuben, the Assistant General Secretary of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, believes the church is undergoing a revival. As one of the longest-serving ministers in the church, he expressed his optimism about this positive change.
“The president of the church includes us in his decision-making. The church is reviving,” Reverend Reuben stated. He emphasized the importance of restoring the church’s lost image and noted an increase in attendance, particularly among children.
This year’s conference theme is “Restoring the Lost Image of Christ within the Methodist Church in Fiji.” Reverend Reuben also pointed out that many individuals in prisons identify as Methodists and highlighted the church’s commitment to addressing this issue.
“We are lacking in areas such as prisons and hospitals. We must ensure that we continue to reach out to these places,” he stressed.
Church President Reverend Semisi Turagavou addressed the challenges faced in fulfilling the church’s prophetic and spiritual roles for the nation. He underscored the importance of collaboratively working towards the vision of restoring Christ’s image as the church’s mission for 2024-2025.
“This is our time. We need to think outside the box. The time is always right to do what is right,” Reverend Turagavou stated. He encouraged the church community to partner with God in elevating the church to new heights.
