“Revival of Discipline: Lomary Secondary School Holds Impressive Cadet Parade”

After a five-year hiatus, Lomary Secondary School in Serua held its passing-out parade once again.

With 268 cadets participating, the parade showcased remarkable discipline and compliance, witnessed by students, parents, alumni, and teachers on Friday.

Minister of Education Aseri Radrodro, who was the chief guest, emphasized the significance of incorporating discipline into daily life.

Mr. Radrodro highlighted that cadet training is crucial for personal development and noted that many successful individuals practice discipline regularly.

“Discipline should not be confined to Barrack Week but should be a lifelong practice,” Mr. Radrodro stated. “Cadet training, which often emphasizes leadership and management, will help students develop valuable skills for any career, including decision-making, teamwork, and the ability to inspire and lead others.”

School head boy Tevita Tuiloma, who received the baton of honor award, said the cadet parade was significant after the three-year pause.

“The school united to revive its rich history, showcasing how cadet training plays a vital role in each student’s journey,” he said.

Aspiring to become a geospatial expert, Tuiloma noted the cadet program’s impact, particularly in fostering discipline among students.

“With the increase in social issues in school compounds, I believe such programs enlighten young minds to overcome peer pressure,” Tuiloma remarked. “I thank the school management for this initiative to guide us toward success.”

The young student from Naitutu, Tailevu, expressed hope that youths will make wise decisions within their communities, noting that society today no longer affords the safety for poor choices.
