Revival in the Methodist Church: A New Vision for the Future

The Assistant General Secretary of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, Reverend Anil Reuben, believes the church is experiencing a period of revival. Reverend Reuben, who has served as a minister for many years, expressed his views on the current revitalization of the church.

“The president of the church involves us in decision-making. The church is undergoing a revival,” said Reverend Reuben. He emphasized the importance of restoring the church’s lost image, noting that he has seen many children attending services as he preaches in various locations.

This year’s conference theme is ‘Restoring the Lost Image of Christ within the Methodist Church in Fiji.’ Reverend Reuben also highlighted that a significant number of incarcerated individuals are Methodists, underscoring the church’s commitment to changing this narrative.

“We are lacking in areas such as prisons and hospitals. It is crucial that we keep reaching out to these communities,” he added.

Church President Reverend Semisi Turagavou recognized the challenges facing the church in its role as a prophetic voice and spiritual guide for the nation. He urged the congregation to strive for new heights.

“We should rise and advance,” Reverend Turagavou stated. “Restoring or achieving the lost image of Christ is our vision, and I encourage us to embrace it together, as this is the church’s mission for 2024-2025. We need to regain what we have lost.”

“This is our moment. We must think creatively. The time is always right to do what is right. God is shaping His church and calls us to collaborate with Him to elevate the church further.”
