Revival in the Methodist Church: A New Era Awaits

The Assistant General Secretary of the Methodist Church in Fiji and Rotuma, Reverend Anil Reuben, expressed his belief that the church is undergoing a revival. As one of the church’s longest-serving ministers, he shared his views on this revitalization.

“The president of the church involves us in his decision-making. The church is experiencing a revival,” stated Reverend Reuben. He highlighted the importance of regaining the church’s lost image and noted an increase in children’s attendance.

The theme for the current year’s conference is “Restoring the Lost Image of Christ within the Methodist Church in Fiji.” Reverend Reuben also pointed out that a significant number of incarcerated individuals identify as Methodists and stressed the church’s need to address this issue.

“We are lacking in areas such as prisons and hospitals. We must ensure that we continue to reach out to these places,” he added.

Church President Reverend Semisi Turagavou acknowledged the challenges the church faces in serving as a prophetic voice and spiritual leader for the nation. He emphasized the necessity of collective effort in restoring the image of Christ and stated that this goal should be the church’s mission for 2024-2025.

“This is our time. We need to think outside the box. The time is always right to do what is right. God is forming and reforming His church, and He’s calling us to partner with Him and elevate the church to another level,” Reverend Turagavou concluded.
