Revival in Fiji: Thousands Turn to Faith at Planetshakers Crusade

Reverend Simione Tugi has called for assistance following an inspiring event in Fiji. The general secretary of the Fiji Council of Churches (FCC) made his remarks after observing the impressive turnout of young people at the Planetshakers gospel crusade held last weekend at Churchill Park in Lautoka. The FCC has partnered with the Australian gospel band to bring this spiritual initiative to Fiji.

This marked a significant moment for Rev. Tugi, who noted it was his first experience witnessing such a large gathering of youth at a crusade. “Thousands of them dedicated their lives to the Lord. These young people represented various denominations and ethnic backgrounds. It truly moved my heart to witness their deep desire for God,” he stated. He highlighted that many attendees chose to forego nightlife activities over the three-night event.

Rev. Tugi raised concerns about why the church and community leadership have not had a greater impact on the youth. He emphasized the necessity for collaboration among the church, the government, and communities to combat pressing challenges such as drug abuse, HIV, sexual violence, and suicide among young people.

Mereoni Tinaitukana from Goulding Developments, who attended the crusade, expressed that her two-day experience was transformative. “The word of God was incredibly powerful. I believe we need to rejuvenate our faith practices, such as holding praise festivals and church crusades. This will help our younger generation reconnect with God and overcome addiction issues,” she said.

The next Planetshakers crusade is scheduled to take place at Albert Park in Suva on August 25, starting at 3pm.
