The reconstruction of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) Vale ni Bose complex is progressing well. The iTaukei Trust Fund Board announced that the first phase of the project has been successfully completed, and work on the second phase has commenced.
The board stated that practical completion of the entire project is anticipated by mid-2025. All construction efforts are being meticulously organized to ensure adherence to timelines while upholding high quality and safety standards. The project team is dedicated to executing Phase 2 effectively, with a focus on meeting each scheduled milestone.
Coordination among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been smooth, with consistent updates and progress assessments to keep the project moving forward. The original GCC complex, which was lost to fire in 2020, has received a $6 million insurance payout for the reconstruction.
Phase two aims to improve the functionality and design of the facility, aligning it with its intended use. There is confidence that the timely completion of this project will enhance the offerings of the space, adding substantial value for both the Great Council of Chiefs meetings and its future users.
Pacific Building Solutions has been selected to oversee the construction efforts.
