The municipal council is planning to enhance its facilities and upgrade Lions Park with beautification initiatives and improved public services. Special administrator Samuela Ligairi announced that the goal is to create a vibrant hub for activities where both residents and visitors can enjoy leisure time.
Ligairi emphasized the importance of understanding community needs regarding facilities. Plans include the construction of benches in the park for visitors to relax. This year, the council has initiated multiple projects aimed at enhancing community services, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations throughout the town.
“We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” stated Ligairi. He also highlighted the shared responsibility of residents in maintaining these public spaces, urging proper rubbish disposal to prevent littering.
To combat littering, closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed around the area to monitor offenders. Ligairi encouraged corporate entities to engage in council-led clean-up initiatives and to hold their own clean-up events at least once a month.
“This will improve the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he concluded.
