Plans are underway to enhance municipal facilities and elevate the standards of Lions Park through beautification projects and improved public services. Council special administrator Samuela Ligairi has expressed a goal to turn the park into a vibrant activity hub where residents and visitors can unwind and enjoy their leisure time.
Mr. Ligairi emphasized the need for the council to grasp the facilities that residents are looking for, noting that plans are being developed to install benches throughout the park for visitor comfort. This year, the council has initiated various projects focused on delivering services to the community, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations throughout the town.
“We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” he stated. Mr. Ligairi also mentioned that while beautification and upgrades of municipal parks are a priority, it is equally important for residents to take responsibility for the upkeep of these facilities. He highlighted the significance of proper waste disposal to prevent littering.
To address littering concerns, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been set up in town to monitor violators. Furthermore, he encouraged businesses to engage in council-led clean-up efforts and to organize their own clean-up activities at least once a month.
“This will enhance the cleanliness of the township and encourage more visitors,” he added.
