Plans are underway to enhance municipal facilities and develop Lions Park to a higher standard, which will include beautification initiatives and improved public services.
Samuela Ligairi, the special administrator of the council, emphasized the goal of transforming the park into an activity hub for both residents and visitors to unwind and enjoy their leisure time.
He acknowledged the necessity for the council to recognize the facilities needed by the community and mentioned that plans are in motion to construct benches for park visitors to rest.
This year, the council has initiated several projects intended to improve services for the community, having installed over 20 benches in strategic locations around the town.
“We are dedicated to providing the best service to our people,” Mr. Ligairi stated.
In addition to beautification efforts and enhancements to the parks, he emphasized the role of residents in maintaining these facilities. He highlighted the importance of responsible waste disposal to prevent littering.
To combat littering, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been deployed around the town.
Mr. Ligairi urged corporate organizations to engage in council-organized clean-up activities and to conduct their own initiatives at least once a month.
“This will improve the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he added.
