Revamping Matailobau: $34,600 for Community Development Sparks Hope

The Matailobau community in Naitasiri will receive a boost with a funding of $34,600 allocated for village development initiatives. This funding was announced by the Minister for Indigenous Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu, during a recent visit.

Vasu expressed his gratitude to the community members for their dedication to improving village facilities as part of the Village Improvement Scheme supported by the government. The initiatives funded will encompass vital infrastructure such as community halls, water facilities, and educational resources, including solar power systems that will help address electricity needs sustainably.

In his remarks, Vasu emphasized the importance of taking good care of the resources provided, as they are meant to enhance everyday life for villagers. He also noted that Matailobau is one among 30 villages benefiting from the government’s development support.

Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, a prominent community leader, reiterated the significance of collective efforts to uplift the community and foster strong relationships among residents and their families. Takiveikata made these comments during a ceremony marking the delivery of footpath construction in Nacokaika.
