Plans are underway to upgrade municipal facilities and enhance Lions Park with beautification projects and improved public services. Special administrator Samuela Ligairi stated the goal is to transform the park into an activity hub where both residents and visitors can unwind and enjoy their leisure time.
Mr. Ligairi emphasized the importance of understanding the needs of the community regarding available facilities. He noted that there are plans to install benches throughout the park for the comfort of visitors.
This year, the council has initiated various projects aimed at better serving the community, including the placement of over 20 benches in strategic locations across the town. “We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” he remarked.
Furthermore, Mr. Ligairi highlighted the need for residents to take responsibility for maintaining the parks alongside the beautification and upgrades. He pointed out the critical role of proper waste disposal in preventing littering. To aid in this effort, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed throughout the town to monitor littering activities.
He also urged local businesses to contribute to council-led clean-up events and to organize their own community clean-ups at least once every month. “This will enhance the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he added.
