Plans are underway to upgrade municipal facilities and develop Lions Park to a high standard, incorporating beautification initiatives and enhanced public services. Samuela Ligairi, the council’s special administrator, stated the goal is to create a vibrant hub within the park where both residents and visitors can unwind and enjoy leisure activities.
Ligairi emphasized the need for the council to understand the facilities essential for the community, mentioning plans to install benches for public use in the park. This year, the council has worked on several projects aimed at community service, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations across the town.
“We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” Ligairi remarked. He also highlighted that while beautification and upgrades of municipal parks are important, it is equally the responsibility of residents to maintain these facilities. He urged the community to dispose of waste properly to prevent littering.
In an effort to monitor littering, several closed-circuit television cameras have been installed around the town. Ligairi called on corporate entities to join in council-led clean-up campaigns and conduct their own clean-ups at least once a month. “This will enhance the cleanliness of the township and encourage more visitors,” he added.
