Revamping Fiji’s Crime-Fighting Strategy: Introducing ‘The Police Reset’

The Fiji Police Force is set to implement an initiative known as ‘The Police Reset,’ which aims to enhance the operations and services within the Force. Minister for Home Affairs Pio Tikoduadua highlighted the importance of this Reset in addressing the evolving nature of crime in Fiji.

According to Tikoduadua, crime is constantly changing, presenting challenges that are more intricate than ever before. He pointed out the rise of sophisticated cybercrime, the increasing threat of organized crime, and the persistent issue of illegal drug activities, emphasizing the complexity of these challenges in today’s society.

The objective of the Police Reset is to ensure that officers are equipped with the necessary skills, tools, and resources to tackle these modern issues effectively. Tikoduadua stressed the importance of building a police force that is agile, responsive, and accountable to the communities they serve. He expressed confidence in the transformation and acknowledged the higher expectations placed on officers during this period of change, noting the welcome response to the initiative in light of the rising sophistication of crime.
