The council has announced plans to enhance its municipal facilities and upgrade Lions Park, focusing on beautification and improved public services. Special administrator Samuela Ligairi expressed the intention to transform the park into a vibrant center for activities where both residents and visitors can unwind and enjoy their leisure time.
Ligairi emphasized the importance of understanding community needs, mentioning plans to install benches for park visitors to relax. This year, the council has initiated several projects aimed at enhancing community services, with over 20 benches already placed in strategic locations across the town.
“We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” Ligairi stated. He also highlighted the communal responsibility in maintaining these facilities, urging residents to dispose of waste properly to prevent littering.
To address littering issues, multiple closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed throughout the town. Ligairi encouraged local businesses to participate in council-led clean-up campaigns and to organize their own clean-up efforts at least once a month.
“This will improve the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he remarked.
