Plans are underway to enhance municipal facilities and develop Lions Park to a high standard, which will include beautification projects and improved public services. Samuela Ligairi, the council’s special administrator, stated the goal is to create a vibrant hub for residents and visitors to relax and enjoy their leisure time.
Ligairi emphasized the need for the council to understand the facilities that residents desire, announcing plans to install benches throughout the park for public use. This year, the council has already initiated multiple projects focused on enhancing community services, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations around the town.
“We are dedicated to providing the best service to our community,” Ligairi remarked. He also highlighted the shared responsibility of residents to care for these public amenities, stressing the importance of proper waste disposal to prevent littering. In response to littering issues, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been set up around the town to monitor offenders.
Ligairi encouraged local businesses to join in council-led clean-up initiatives and to host their own clean-up events at least once a month. “This will improve the cleanliness of the area and attract more visitors,” he added.
