Rev. Turagavou Urges Methodist Church to Break Free from Conservative Chains

The President of the Methodist Church of Fiji, Reverend Dr. Semisi Turagavou, has urged the church to move beyond its conservative practices and embrace change. During the opening of the Methodist Church Conference, known as ‘Bose Ko Viti,’ Reverend Turagavou emphasized the need for a transformation in mindsets and attitudes as the church follows the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

He warned that a lack of willingness to adapt could lead God to use others to elevate the church, suggesting that divine progress does not require the church’s consent. He encouraged the congregation, including delegates and members, to step out of their comfort zones and lead in mission efforts.

Reverend Turagavou insisted that the church should reflect its belief in a relational God and called on its members to be welcoming and open. He stated, “Today God is calling on the Church to extend the boundaries, to come out from our comfort zones,” highlighting the importance of being immersed in the spirit of unity through faith.
