“Rev. Tugi Calls for Unity to Rekindle Faith Among Fijian Youth”

Reverend Simione Tugi has expressed a call for assistance following a recent large-scale event led by the Australian gospel band Planetshakers in Lautoka, which attracted thousands of young attendees. As the general secretary of the Fiji Council of Churches (FCC), Rev. Tugi shared his experience of witnessing a significant turnout at the crusade held at Churchill Park.

The FCC partnered with Planetshakers for this event, and Rev. Tugi noted that it was remarkable to see so many young individuals, representing various denominations and ethnicities, gather to embrace faith. He reported that a substantial number made the commitment to follow the Lord during the three-day event, which also drew participants away from nightlife and social gatherings.

Rev. Tugi emphasized the need for collective efforts involving the church, government, and community to address pressing social issues such as drug addiction, HIV, sexual abuse, and suicide affecting Fijian youth. He stated the importance of integrating evangelistic teams like Planetshakers into these efforts.

Attendee Mereoni Tinaitukana, from Goulding Developments in Nadi, shared her powerful experience at the crusade, highlighting the impactful messages conveyed during the event. She urged the younger generation to reconnect with God and reinstate traditions such as praise festivals and town crusades to combat addiction.

The next evangelistic crusade is scheduled for August 25 at Albert Park in Suva, starting at 3 PM.
