Litiana Naqatalevu departed from Beqa Island early yesterday to ensure she could attend the Fiji Bulikula women’s rugby league team’s morning practice at Albert Park in Suva. The $100 she spent on her travel was well worth it, as she had the opportunity to reunite with her niece, Losana Lutu, after 12 years.
Naqatalevu expressed her excitement, saying, “I always knew that she would excel in sports because she was very talented.” Losana Lutu, now 20, is emerging as a star in the National Rugby League Women (NRLW) in Australia and plays for the Wests Tigers. She is a key player to watch as the Bulikula team prepares to face Cook Islands at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva this Saturday.
“Our village in Naceva, Beqa, is getting ready with banners for the game,” Naqatalevu stated. “We will all be at the stadium to support Losana and the team as they compete against the Cook Islands.”
