“Returning to Paradise: An Australian Couple’s Heartfelt Reunion in Fiji”

An Australian couple, Owen and Christine Twist, are delighted to have returned to Fiji. They were among the over 2,000 passengers aboard a P&O Cruises Australia ship that docked in Lautoka on Monday.

The Twists previously lived in Fiji during the early 1970s while serving with the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Suva. Mr. Twist shared, “It feels so good to be back in Fiji. We were hoping to meet some of our local friends that we have contacted through social media.”

The couple initially planned to stay for two years but ended up living in Fiji for nine due to their fondness for the local culture and people. Although they eventually returned home, Fiji has always remained close to their hearts.

Their daughters, both nurses, spent part of their childhood in Fiji, adding to the family’s strong connection to the island. The Twists expressed appreciation for the lasting friendships they forged during their time in Fiji.

During their visit, they purchased handicrafts from woodcarver Jone Sito as souvenirs to take back home. The cruise ship is set to continue its journey to Taveuni before heading back to Sydney.
