Namosi Think Tank member Maciu Nalumisa is advocating for the restructuring of the province’s commercial arm, Namosi Development Company Ltd, to foster transparency and strengthen the connection between the people and the company.
Speaking at the Namosi provincial meeting in Pacific Harbour yesterday, Nalumisa, who also serves as Minister for Housing and Local Government, emphasized that the long-operating company required reforms. He stressed the importance of involving the province’s members in the company’s activities, highlighting that this concern was raised by community members.
“I suggest we hold a special annual general meeting to discuss the matter further,” Nalumisa stated. “For smooth operation, I believe the company needs major reform. Additionally, I request that members of the province be actively aware of the company’s internal affairs.”
Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitobua acknowledged the proposal, noting it was part of his plan formulated during his time in prison. Ratu Suliano expressed gratitude for the establishment of the Namosi Think Tank.
“During the years I spent in Naboro, I developed a plan for the province. For years, I have aimed to establish the think tank, and I am delighted it has come to fruition,” Ratu Suliano said.
He assured that the company belongs to the people of the province, not just the elites.
