The Ministry of Home Affairs plans to restructure and reform the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) to enhance efficiency, establish the Joint Logistics Command, and implement Automated Logistics Management Systems.
Minister Pio Tikoduadua emphasized these reforms while discussing the 2024-2025 National Budget in Parliament today. He stated that the RFMF remains dedicated to protecting Fiji and contributing to global peacekeeping.
Tikoduadua noted that these initiatives aim to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance overall capability. He highlighted the importance of the naval division in safeguarding Fiji’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and supporting critical maritime operations. The surveillance of Fiji’s EEZ and the execution of maritime search and rescue missions are essential for the nation’s sovereignty and economic well-being.
He also pointed out that the budget reflects the Government’s commitment to the safety, security, and prosperity of all Fijians. The Government’s approach addresses immediate challenges while planning for the future, equipping defense forces and police with advanced tools and technology to ensure preparedness for any situation.
“The investment we make today will create a safer and more secure Fiji for tomorrow. A nation where businesses can operate without fear of disruption, where communities are united and cohesive, and where every citizen feels protected and valued. This is our vision for Fiji – a vision of prosperity built on a foundation of security and stability,” Tikoduadua said.
