Rowena Acraman, who faced the loss of her grandmother earlier this year, has shown remarkable resilience as she strives to achieve her goals. Once a radio journalist, Ms. Acraman is now one of the nine contenders for the Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024, sponsored by Miss APCO Coatings.
Reflecting on her journey, she shared that her three years of study in journalism and psychology have been filled with challenges. However, with the encouragement of her friends, she managed to navigate various obstacles. “Pursuing both journalism and psychology was no easy feat,” Ms. Acraman admitted, emphasizing that her experiences at home tested her determination.
“Hard work and sleepless nights have truly paid off,” she added. Participating in the festival this week has been an extraordinary experience for her, and she describes it as magical, despite her mixed emotions.
Alongside her academic pursuits, Ms. Acraman is also a passionate artist, singer, and musician, proficient in guitar and ukulele. She aims to pursue a career with a non-governmental organization focused on human rights and climate change. Although balancing work and studies has been tough, she successfully maintained a stable income while completing her degree.
