Rowena Acraman, who faced the loss of her grandmother earlier this year, has found the courage to focus on her ambitions. A former radio journalist with interests in human rights and climate issues, Ms. Acraman is among the nine contestants vying for the title in the Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024, sponsored by Miss APCO Coatings.
Reflecting on her academic journey, she acknowledged the difficulties she encountered during her three years of study but credited her friends for their support in overcoming various challenges. “Pursuing both journalism and psychology was no easy feat for me personally,” she expressed, adding that her experiences at home have showcased her resilience. “Hard work and sleepless nights have truly paid off.”
This week has been a remarkable opportunity for Ms. Acraman as she engages in the festival and competes for the crown. She candidly describes the experience as magical, filled with mixed emotions.
Beyond her educational pursuits, Ms. Acraman is a dedicated artist, singer, and musician, proficient in both the guitar and ukulele. She aims to work with a non-governmental organization focused on human rights and climate change. Although balancing work with her studies proved to be challenging, she successfully maintained a stable income while working towards her degree.
