Simran Chandra, a 43-year-old market vendor in Tavakubu, has successfully built her business over the past eight years while simultaneously fighting breast cancer and managing two market stalls. Despite her diagnosis, Chandra continues to operate her business with the unwavering support of her family.
Starting her journey by selling pineapples on the street, Chandra has become a well-known figure among the community of diligent women vendors. Her struggle with breast cancer has been tough, yet she remains resilient.
“My family has been my support system throughout my cancer treatment. My mother and my son have always been by my side,” she shared.
Chandra began her business eight years ago selling pineapples and has since grown into a respected vendor in Lautoka. “All the women I’ve met here are incredibly hardworking. We’ve all started from nothing and created something we can be proud of,” she noted.
