Rowena Acraman has demonstrated remarkable resilience despite the loss of her grandmother earlier this year. The former radio journalist, who has aspirations in human rights and climate change, is one of nine contestants vying for the title in the Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024, sponsored by Miss APCO Coatings.
Reflecting on her educational journey, Ms. Acraman acknowledged the challenges she faced during her three years of study. With the encouragement of her friends, she was able to surmount various obstacles along the way. “Pursuing both journalism and psychology was no easy feat for me personally,” she stated, adding that dealing with struggles at home showcased her determination. “Hard work and sleepless nights have truly paid off.”
This week has proven to be an unforgettable experience for Ms. Acraman as she competes in the festival, which she describes as magical, filled with mixed emotions. Alongside her academic pursuits, she is a passionate artist, singer, and musician, adept at playing the guitar and ukulele.
Looking ahead, Ms. Acraman aspires to join a non-governmental organization focused on human rights and climate change. She also recognized the difficulty of balancing work and studies but managed to secure a stable income while earning her degree.
