Resilience and Dreams: Meet Miss Hibiscus Contestant Rowena Acraman

Rowena Acraman, who experienced the loss of her grandmother earlier this year, is channeling her strength to pursue her aspirations. A former radio journalist with ambitions in human rights and climate change, she is one of nine contestants vying for the Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024 crown.

Supported by Miss APCO Coatings, Ms. Acraman reflected on her three years of rigorous study, which posed significant challenges. With encouragement from her friends, she navigated various obstacles along the way.

“Pursuing both journalism and psychology was no easy feat for me personally,” she stated. “Enduring the struggles at home was a testament to my resilience.” She believes her dedication, including hard work and sleepless nights, has paid off.

This week has been a remarkable experience for Ms. Acraman as she takes part in the festival. She describes the event as magical, filled with mixed emotions.

Beyond her studies, Ms. Acraman is passionate about the arts; she is an accomplished artist, singer, and musician, proficient in playing the guitar and ukulele. Her goal is to work for a non-governmental organization focused on human rights and climate change. While balancing work and academia has been tough, she has successfully maintained a stable income during her degree pursuit.
